What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of hands on healing which can be used on yourself or others. It is safe, and does not involve pressure, manipulation or massage. Reiki healers channel energy to help balance all aspects of a person; the physical, emotional and spiritual.
Reiki is a Japanese term which is usually translated as meaning ‘Universal Life-force energy’ or ‘Spiritual energy’. It is actually two separate Japanese kanji characters, ‘Rei” meaning ‘wisdom and knowledge of all the universe’ and ‘Ki’ or life force energy. Reiki is passed on from master to student through a series of attunements. One you have been attuned to reiki level I you can use reiki, there is nothing to remember and no test to pass or fail. It is a simple healing technique available to everyone who wishes to learn. What is a treatment like? An initial treatment will take approximately an hour and a half including a consultation process, subsequent treatments take approximately an hour. The recipient is treated clothed and lying face up on a treament couch, though treatment is possible in any position should the client prefer. The Reiki energy is channeled by the therapist to the client using a light touch hands on technique (off the body treatments are also possible if required). It is not uncommon to feel warmth and a general feeling of relaxation and wellbeing after a treatment. In addition to working on the physical level the treatment also affects the emotional, mental and spiritual giving the client the experience of a compassionate physical touch on an intimate level.
What conditions are helped? Reiki may be helpful for most conditions, and also beneficial in maintenance of a healthy body, mind and spirit. After care advice:
